ANTHONY OWEN: POEM ‘Hurricane Benjamin’

Posted on October 31, 2025

In the heart of a stolen star
We are back to wigwams again
Names on limbs just incase it comes
Hurricane Benjamin destroyer of tents,
Destroyer of children and whole bloodlines.

Fuck it, lets get back to relatable world events –
Someone in England died from the skinny jab
Alan misgendered Beth again raise a low-level concern
And don’t worry about Sudan it’s a mythical place
Did I just relegate Palestine by swipe-left Africa?

Yes, I am making a public apology I was wrong
My car is hungry for Iraqi blood from Esso
I am disgusted at the profits of oil companies
Why the tariff per litre always ends in point nine
I think that girl of Gaza needs a litre of “O” blood type

Fuck it, lets get back to relatable local events –
There was a mini tornado in Milton Keynes
Four wheelie bins toppled there blue mouths agape
Spilling out unrecyclable chicken wings and Domino dips
A sikh woman was raped in broad daylight near the flags.

Yes, I am making a public apology making you feel uncomfortable –
Prunella Scales died she was ninety-three so a minutes silence
She was a British icon and was the voice of reason
As feckless Manuel fucked up the lunch order
And Fawlty Towers housed immigrant workers.
